The Studio always smells like food on wednesday...

The year 2000 marked a weird time in music and with this 10 year period almost over I feel like I need to talk about some of the music from it. See I live in a world of bands that you've never heard and then a world that is popular music. With that being said I get that band of horses is part of the culture dripping in through the cracks of commercials and movies but will never sell out a stadium. Which leads me to how music has sort of been over the last ten years and my big question...

What Band of the 2000's is a band that is going to stand the test of time?

Personally when I look back at the 90's and you take in the Pearl Jam and the Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer's and No Doubt, The Foo Fighters and Stone Temple Pilots. All those bands are rock bands that are going to rival many of your classic rock bands these days. Even a Blink 182 and Green Day is going to be super popular for years to come and they are pop punk bands.
I believe there are even more I can name from the 90's that really are rock acts that will last.

Then I'm left with the 2000's and what bands will really stand up out of the 2000's. Who are you going to get out of the 2000's as a real legit rock band.

The first band of the 2000's that really jumps out at me is The Killers. The Killers are a real rock band. Sure they have some pop bleed over but many rock bands have in the past and you don't blame a band for being popular. As a matter of fact that's what this whole blog is about who is the band that is going to be the band that leads rock and roll. The next band I lean to think is Paramore. With one obscure album and 2 hit albums they are on their way to being No Doubt. And I know I KNOW!!! Is that me making that jump because they have a female singer. Of course it is.

Other than that who can I believe in? I mean Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance are pretty strong choices. Sure to be fair the 90's bands have had like 10 to 15 years to build a rep.

I mean maybe its how music is now. I'm not sure.

Can't I get a win here...

This season was supposed to be super good if you are a bills fan like me. Last season we had a decent year and then in the off season we got T.O. and while he is a trainwreck he is still a good player. Lynch was coming into his own as a running back and I had totally put all my faith into one Trent Edwards. And this weekend sort of put the whole getting my hopes up into perspective. The Bills lost to the Cleveland Browns in a 3 to 6 game.

WHAT THE FUCK THE CLEVELAND BROWNS!!!

Derek Anderson went 2 of 17. FUCKING 2 of 17!!! 2 of FUCKING 17!!!!!!!! And you some how lost. Oh and T.O. he had a season high 4 catches for 44 yards! And a special thanks to Lee Evans for his 2 catches for 11 yards.

Look I'm not the guy that is going to give up on the Bills or Trent Edwards. I mean 1-4 isn't the end of the world but it is the same record as Oakland, Detroit, and the Cleveland Browns who are better based on the fact that they beat the Bills head to head. GOD DAMMIT! The Bills are God Awful. Alright I'm going to take drink a red bull and shout at that picture of the Cleveland Brown above this...

Before I do I feel like one last thing had to be brought up and it is the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks...

FUCKING HELL WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? I'm colorblind and I get how awful these look. Is this how its going to be its going to be a race to the worst uniform in sporting history? I mean these were no picnic and don't back them eagles fans...

I can only hope someone has something uglier hidden in the world...

Mauled By a Tiger?

Ever ebay the word weird stuff? Yep it is a lot of fake dog poop. Seriously its out of hand. Then odd and creepy stuff doesn't help either. When I type in weird stuff on ebay I want 70's table lamps that look like legs and posters of monkeys knife fighting. But nope just fake dog poop...

So my obsession with Domo keeps on keeping on.

Honestly how rad is this thing? Now I have to sell out to buying things on the internet.

I mean look at it fucking that city up. Also I found a belt buckle...

And since I am in dire need of a belt buckle well then I think I just solved my own problem.

And with that I see giant crabs all around me...

As you know by now I've been really really into the whole pitchfork list and it will take me a little bit to come down from loving it. But in this list there is also the years in music broken up. One of the craziest things that has ever happened in music in my life time was a band giving in to not selling records.

See kids I'm a big fan of actually owning some of my music. A hard copy. Maybe its because I haven't found a way to sell out to the ipod thing but that's how I live. In 2007 we've been stealing music off the internet for how long now? Yeah I know since the some of you were born. I mean honestly it is all some of you know.

Then Radiohead did it. They made it in their heads that it was over I guess. They put the album in rainbows out by themselves and put it up online and you could pay whatever price you wanted for it. Now at the same time they released it on vinyl and in a collectors edition with art work and stuff you couldn't get for the pick your own price detail but most people aren't die hard radiohead fans so a free album was a free album.

So why do this? Why stop trying to sell records? Maybe its because Radiohead is a band that gets that things change and people are going to take it anyways but Yorke said something interesting about the album. That people find music extremely valuable. So this leads me to believe that people must have bought it. I know my friend gave 5 dollars for it. I mean that's more than most people threw down.

Also I've heard rumors that this is the last tour radiohead is doing. I mean I got to see them and they did no surprises which is hands down the best radiohead song to hear when you just don't have anything left in you. Seriously it will make you want to kill yourself.

So why do I buy record? Why go to the record store? Because I feel like there is something to finding a cd putting in my cd player and hearing it for the first time. Also hunting down cds is fun. I've been looking for the new her space holiday cd for a year now when I could steal. Mostly cause girls don't date me but also because there is still a joy in finding a record you've really been looking for...

Oh well one day all records will be gone I assume until then keep it loud and keep it rocking...

I've always thought about getting the tattoo from Pete & Pete

Alright Narwhals...

Seriously its a fucking whale with a fucking tusk. Do you see this shit? The say the tusk doesn't do anything really but act as a like the mane of a lion. Sometimes sure a female has been know to have a tusk and sometimes a narwhal will get two tusks but both are very very rare. So seriously look this thing up and enjoy how fucking weird it is!

El Monstero isn't spanish for Monster?

So I know it was weeks ago now and I know I'm late to the party of posting these but seriously they crack me up. At this point we all know Kanye West was either hilario or out of line when he interrupted that girl who's eyes are really far apart Taylor Swift. Well this event caused people to make great pictures on the internet and I am going to share them with you now...

Turns out this is all I wanted to blog about today. Soooo enjoy it! And hey start calling more jerks. 927 1027 keep it loud and all that...

Simon Belmont was awful at Jumping...

So Zombieland came out this weekend and it was just about everything I wanted and a little bit more. Zombieland of course a heart warming tale of the end of the world caused by a plague that causes other people to eat other people. Now anyone at this point knows that I'm super into Zombies. They are kind of my thing.

Anyways Zombieland even better for me because a nerd guy is the one living through the Zombie nightmare. Also seriously you put Woody Harrelson is something like this and I'm so down. Now look I could go into a bunch about the movie spoiling parts of it for you. Turns out I'm just not that guy. I won't ruin the awesome guest in this movie that cracked me up. I won't ruin my fave Zombie kills.

But this does bring me to talking about zombies and one of the greatest zombie things in the world. ZOMBIES ATE MY NEIGHBORS. It was a game for sega and snes. And it was RAD! Seriously it put you into a campy horror movie from the 50's and had you fight off zombies and mad men with chainsaws.

It is seriously a reason to go back and get your hands on a sega. It and Joe Montana's Sports Talk Football. Trust me if you've never played zombies ate my neighbors then you missed out on a huge part of living. And these days with roms and the like I'm sure you can go online and in 20 minutes be playing it. But if you do get it tell me and forward it too me honest I want to play it again super bad! Well I feel like this blog had very little content except to push you to do two things. Alright party people I'm out for now!

Sometimes I can't figure out how i don't time travel yet...

Right next to the studio as many of you may know is a 7 11 that I go to often. It is a staple of my day walking over to the sev getting something that is on that hotdog treadmill and getting either a arizona iced tea or a slurpee not big deal. Well the other day I went to walk in and saw a little guy I've seen on the internet a ton but never really gave much thought. It was this lil guy...

His name is Domo. I know you knew about it years ago. Look so did I. It being at sev sparked my interest again. Making my new gimmick taking pictures of it and sending them to my friends. Then on top of that I found some awesome internet pictures.

So yeah look if you know where I can get one I would love you forever. Or if you are crafty and make me one I'll get you an awesome JSE prize pack. It is the most RAD THING EVER! Seriously I know I'm 12 years old I know.

I can't wait to be greyed...

Over the past week I've been obsessed with a list from the Internet. Mostly because it lists for the most part bring up a little talk. The lists are the best videos, songs, and albums of the 2000's.

Go to pitchfork.com at the moment it is at the top of the page. And like all lists it is always up for discussion. But I want to start by talking about some of these albums from time to time because they do in fact mean a lot to me. And though the albums list isn't finished until tomorrow I felt it important to start on this tonight. Mostly because I've got some time to kill before I drive out to the blue marlin.

Album 29 is an album by Bon Iver. A band that is basically Justin Vernon. See I love this album one because the music really hits a chord with me. I mean there is just a feeling a vibe to it that I can't really explain with out you listening to it with me(and trust me if you are down enough one night call me and I'll sit in a parking lot and let you hear all it has to offer.) But on top of being an amazing piece of music it has become almost the stuff legends are made of. Those of you out of the loop let me let you in on this folk tale. Justin Vernon had lost his band, his girl, and was fighting off a nasty spat with mono and pneumonia when he moved from Raleigh NC back to his home state of Wisconsin. He slipped into his father's cabin and was bedridden with his sickness at the time.

So he had taken to watching Northern Exposure on DVD to pass the time. In one of the episodes after the first snow fall everyone wished each other Bon Iver. Which in french means good winter. Well in any case while sitting in the cabin slowly a record was built in him. With that a slow self release was made and put out even though he never really had ever had the plan of putting it out there. So there it was an album about breaking up with someone and being sick. I mean it was crazy good. And honestly if you've never heard it you're doing yourself a real disservice and you should saddle up and give it a try. The offer stands to listen to it with me just email me.

Well all that being said that is my take on album number 29. But in contrast of something so simple and stripped down with a simple message of being broken I feel the record at 171 is just as important. It is a record by The Go! Team from 2004 called Thunder, Lightning, Strike.

This album is the opposite in many ways of Bon Iver's For Emma For Ever Ago. Thunder, Lightning, Strike is a feel good dance record with more songs on it than you'd ever guess you'd know. Mostly because car companies like the fact that they are almost an instrumental act. With hip hop elements that bleed in and out and splashes of cheer leading that is then mixed with amazing indie rock grooves that you wouldn't think would work out on paper but I often feel like blows my mind. On top of all of it it was honestly one of the greatest live shows I've ever seen. I mean a crowd wall to wall in the Troc not able to move much at all but all getting down like it was their jobs. Yes my friends it is in fact a dance record in my life. This is another situation where if you need this record tell me lets work something out. So that's 2 of the 200 that are on the list that I'm talking about.
Check out Bon Iver and the GO! Team and remember to keep it loud and KEEP IT ROCKING!!!
